The key to finding God and having peace with him is in our response to the GOSPEL message, which may be summarized with the acronym:

G-O-S-P-E-L

1. G:

God created us to have a relationship with Him.

2. O:

Our sin separates us from God until we have them forgiven.

3. S:

Sin cannot be removed by good deeds alone. In other words, our “good deeds” may be good, but they don’t save us!

4. P:

Paying the penalty for our sins (past, present, and future), God, out of His great love for us, sent Jesus Christ to bear the weight of our sin on his back (i.e., to be our Sin-bearer) when he died on the cross for our sins.

5. E:

Everyone who puts there trust in what Jesus did for them on the cross will inherit eternal life.

6. L:

Life that’s eternal means that we will be with him FOREVER!

“Lord Jesus, I know that I am a sinner and that I can’t save myself. But you can, and you did, when you died on the cross for my sins. I receive, by faith right now, your forgiveness, and the free gift of salvation that you made possible for me on the cross. Teach me how to live a Christian life from this day forward as I turn from my old life to follow you in this new life. Thank you for loving me and thank you saving me, in Jesus’ name. Amen!”
